Forty delegates from all regions of the province converged on the University of BC for this year’s Provincial Heritage Fair, July 4th through 8th.
The BCHFS was extremely proud to host the 2016 Provincial Heritage Fair in Vancouver, BC, at the Point Grey campus of the University of British Columbia. Students and chaperones were accommodated in university residences while taking advantage of the beautiful natural environment, local cultural sites, and Vancouver’s vast array learning opportunities at venues on- and off-campus.
Organized by provincial coordinator Jane Watt, the week-long fair included hands-on history with visits to Mountain View Cemetery and an evening “Improv and Heritage” studio session, BC Sports Hall of Fame, UBC’s Museum of Anthropology and the university’s Chung Collection of CPR memorabilia, a picnic at Tower Beach, a UBC Farm Visit and Alumni Run History Mystery, a Treasure Hunt on Granville Island and, of course, the Provincial Showcase at UBC’s award-winning Student Union Building, The Nest.
Thank you to all of the students, volunteers and chaperones who made this year such a success, and to the Provincial Fair Alumni Team for keeping everyone up to date on the week’s proceedings, which can be viewed at the Alumni Blog.
