Prince George Regional Fair

This week we would like to introduce you to the Prince George Regional Heritage Fair and its coordinator Emma Church.

The first fair hosted in Prince George was in 1995, although Emma Church did not become personally involved with Heritage Fairs until 2000 when she participated in the Regional Fair as a French Immersion student. After joining The Exploration Place, the current host venue for the Regional Fair, in 2012, Emma was able to become involved in Heritage Fairs again and in 2013 she took on the role of Regional Coordinator.

Her favourite thing about Heritage Fairs is seeing the pride in the students on the day of the fair. When they finally get to show off all their hard work and their passion for their subject, it is truly a magical experience.

The biggest challenge facing their Fair is recruiting alumni students and recruiting new teachers. Teachers are sometimes reluctant to take on a big project like Heritage Fair, but the ones who give it a try come back every year.
